It’s seeing who grew quiet in the room,
Who slipped away a little far too soon.
It’s sensing where the laughter missed its mark,
Then offering a light to warm the dark.

It’s holding doors without a second thought,
Believing worth can’t ever be bought.
It’s letting someone speak without repair,
And staying present simply because you’re there.

Giving is patience practiced every day,
Letting our plans bend gently on their way.
It’s slowing down when progress says to race,
Because the moment calls for quiet grace.

It’s cooking more than anyone expects,
Not asking who might come or what comes next.
It’s passing food without a second glance,
Trusting that giving isn’t left to chance.

It’s offering forgiveness not because
It’s earned or clean or fits a rule or clause,
But because holding onto what has been
Only makes the damage settle in.

Giving is listening without repair,
Not fixing wounds that weren’t asked to be there.
It’s sitting close while silence finds its tune,
And letting peace arrive a little soon.

The work of giving rarely asks for praise,
It doesn’t need a spotlight or a stage.
It moves like warmth along a winter floor,
Unseen, but felt — and welcome evermore.

So when the morning comes in red and green,
Remember what the season’s always been:
Not what you bought, nor how impressed they were—
But shared small joys that made the whole world blur.
