FBI and Milwaukee Police Seek Public Assistance in Unsolved Shooting Death of 12-Year-Old Girl, $10,000 Reward Offered

Federal and local law enforcement agencies are renewing their appeal for public assistance in an unsolved homicide that claimed the life of a 12-year-old girl in Milwaukee, an act investigators describe as a targeted act of gun violence that struck a residential home while its occupants slept.

The FBI’s Milwaukee Field Office and the Milwaukee Police Department continue to investigate the fatal shooting of Marvayah Darby, who was killed during the early morning hours of June 13, 2025. Authorities state that multiple rounds were fired into a residence located in the 5000 block of North 73rd Street. One of the bullets struck Darby in the head as she slept, resulting in her death at the scene.

Investigators report that the volume of gunfire indicates deliberate intent and a willingness to endanger anyone inside the home. The residence was not vacant, and the shooting occurred at a time when occupants would have been most vulnerable. Law enforcement has not disclosed whether the home or its occupants were the intended target, citing the integrity of the ongoing investigation.

Evidence collected thus far suggests that a silver or gray sport utility vehicle may have been involved in the shooting. Authorities believe the vehicle may have been used to approach the residence or flee the area immediately after the shots were fired. Investigators are working to reconstruct the vehicle’s movements through witness statements, surveillance footage, and forensic analysis.

Despite extensive investigative efforts, no arrests have been made. The case remains active, and law enforcement officials emphasize that even information perceived as minor could prove critical in identifying those responsible.

To advance the investigation, the FBI is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible for the shooting. Officials state that community cooperation is essential in cases involving violent crimes against children, particularly when offenders remain at large.

Authorities underscore that shootings of this nature often involve more than one participant, including drivers, shooters, or individuals who assisted before or after the crime. Law enforcement continues to examine potential connections, motives, and patterns that may link this incident to other acts of violence in the area.
