A federal case in Missouri has resulted in a guilty plea involving online grooming, interstate travel, and sexual contact with a minor, following an investigation that identified a sustained pattern of exploitation beginning through social media and escalating into in-person encounters.
Andrew Raymond Crum, 33, of Toledo, Ohio, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in St. Louis to one count of coercion and enticement of a minor. Sentencing is scheduled for June 29, 2026. The charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in federal prison.
According to court records, Crum first contacted the victim in 2021 through social media when she was 14 years old. Over time, the communication escalated into sexually explicit messaging and the exchange of images and videos. Crum used the alias “Sassy Man” while communicating through Snapchat.
By February 2024, when the victim was 16, Crum began traveling from Ohio to Missouri to engage in sexual activity. The repeated interstate travel and use of digital communication platforms placed the case under federal jurisdiction.
The investigation began in October 2024 after authorities were alerted to Crum’s plans to return to Missouri. Agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation located the victim and her mother, preventing further contact and securing evidence that led to the federal charge.
The case was brought under Project Safe Childhood, a federal initiative focused on identifying and prosecuting individuals who exploit minors through online platforms and interstate activity.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Dianna Edwards is prosecuting the case.
The charge remains subject to sentencing, and the defendant will face federal penalties consistent with statutes governing child exploitation offenses.
