A member of a nationwide robbery crew has been sentenced to ten years in federal prison following a series of coordinated attacks on ATM service operations that involved disabling machines and ambushing repair technicians to steal large quantities of cash.
According to court records and sentencing findings, Seth Coles-Body, 24, of Houston, Texas, pleaded guilty in February 2026 to four counts of bank robbery and two counts of attempted bank robbery. The charges stem from a pattern of violent offenses carried out across multiple states, including Washington, Oregon, Arizona, Texas, Maine, and Mississippi.
Investigators identified Coles-Body and co-defendant Ahmon Hogg, 23, of Humble, Texas, as part of a mobile robbery operation that exploited predictable ATM servicing procedures. The method involved intentionally disabling ATM units to trigger maintenance dispatches. Once technicians arrived and opened the machines for repair, the suspects would approach, threaten, or physically assault them, and remove the internal cash cassettes.
The operation intensified in late December 2024, when the suspects targeted ATMs during peak cash-loading periods ahead of the Christmas holiday. In Renton, Washington, a technician responding to a disabled machine was confronted and threatened with a tool while being ordered to open the ATM. The technician resisted and escaped after a physical struggle.
The following day in Vancouver, Washington, a second technician was approached while servicing a disabled machine. The suspects seized five cash cassettes containing currency and fled the scene in a vehicle linked to the prior attempted robbery. Additional tampering incidents were confirmed in Battle Ground, Washington, during the same period.
The pattern extended beyond Washington. In early January 2025, similar ATM interference was detected in the Phoenix, Arizona area involving machines operated by Bank of America and Wells Fargo. Law enforcement in Phoenix stopped the suspects while they were attempting to execute another robbery tied to the same method.
In March 2025, the crew carried out another robbery in Redmond, Washington, where cash containers were taken from an open ATM during an active service call. Several damaged cassettes were later recovered along a highway corridor. Days later, Coles-Body was stopped by U.S. Border Patrol while in possession of approximately $209,000 in cash, which was seized.
The activity continued in May 2025 in Houston, Texas, where a technician servicing a Wells Fargo ATM was physically assaulted, resulting in injuries. Approximately $117,000 was taken during that incident. The suspects abandoned their vehicle shortly after the robbery.
In June 2025, the operation expanded into Oregon, where ATMs in Tigard and Hillsboro were disabled. During the same period, an ATM customer was robbed after completing a transaction at a separate location.
By the end of June, the suspects had traveled to South Portland, Maine, where they executed another attack on a repair technician, resulting in the theft of approximately $47,000. The technician was physically beaten during the encounter.
The cross-country movement concluded with a traffic stop in Jackson, Mississippi, where both suspects were taken into custody. Authorities recovered stolen firearms and significant amounts of cash from the vehicle.
The total confirmed financial loss tied to the operation has reached $768,900, which both defendants have agreed to repay in restitution.
The court imposed a sentence of ten years in prison for Coles-Body, followed by three years of supervised release.
The case reflects coordinated investigative efforts across multiple jurisdictions. The investigation was led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) with involvement from field offices in Seattle, Phoenix, and Houston, along with the Columbia River Organized Crime Task Force and state and local law enforcement partners across the impacted regions. The prosecution was handled by Assistant United States Attorney Amanda McDowell, with support from federal prosecutors in Arizona and Texas.
