ALBUQUERQUE — An 18-year-old Bloomfield man has pleaded guilty in federal court to voluntary manslaughter after admitting that he fatally stabbed another man with a kitchen knife during a physical altercation in May 2026.
Seviano Kee, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, entered the guilty plea in the District of New Mexico. According to court documents, Kee became involved in a physical confrontation with a man identified by federal prosecutors as John Doe on May 20, 2026. During that encounter, Kee stabbed the victim with a kitchen knife, causing his death. As part of the plea, Kee admitted that he was not acting in self-defense.
Kee pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and now faces up to 15 years in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release.
The investigation was handled by the Farmington Resident Agency of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office with assistance from the Navajo Nation Police Department and the Navajo Department of Criminal Investigations.
First Assistant U.S. Attorney Ryan Ellison and FBI Albuquerque Special Agent in Charge Justin A. Garris announced the guilty plea. Assistant U.S. Attorney Amy Mondragon is prosecuting the case.
Kee has not yet been sentenced. The final sentence will be determined by the federal court within the statutory limits applicable to the voluntary manslaughter conviction.
The plea establishes Kee’s criminal responsibility for the fatal stabbing. He admitted that he stabbed the victim with a kitchen knife and was not acting in self-defense, converting the case from an allegation into an admitted federal offense.
