TEXAS MAN SENTENCED TO 20 YEARS FOR ONLINE CHILD EXPLOITATION: FEDERAL CASE DETAILS DECEPTION-BASED TARGETING OF MINORS THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA

A Texas resident has been sentenced in federal court to 20 years in prison following a case involving the online exploitation of minors through impersonation and distribution of child sexual abuse material.

Gilbert Andrew Longoria, 23, of Santa Rosa, previously residing on Fort Hood, received a sentence of 240 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to distributing child sexual abuse material. The sentencing took place in Waco, Texas, under the authority of U.S. District Judge Alan Albright.

Court findings establish that Longoria operated multiple social media accounts on Instagram and Snapchat, where he falsely presented himself as a 15-year-old male. Using this fabricated identity, he initiated contact with underage females and solicited explicit images. Investigative records confirm that Longoria possessed approximately 70 illicit images involving minors.

Federal documentation further establishes that Longoria maintained an ongoing online relationship with a 14-year-old female over a period of several months. During that time, explicit images were exchanged between the defendant and the minor, forming a central component of the case.

Longoria was taken into custody on June 5, 2025, and later entered a guilty plea on December 16, 2025, to the federal charge brought against him. The case proceeded through federal prosecution channels, resulting in the sentencing outcome delivered in April 2026.

The investigation was conducted jointly by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the United States Army Criminal Investigation Division, reflecting coordination between federal civilian and military investigative bodies due to the defendant’s prior connection to Fort Hood.

Prosecution of the case was led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Gregory Gloff under the jurisdiction of the Western District of Texas.

The case was brought under the framework of Project Safe Childhood, a federal initiative established to identify, investigate, and prosecute individuals engaged in the exploitation of minors through digital platforms. The program integrates federal, state, and local resources to address online child exploitation and to locate and protect victims.
