Oahu Man Indicted on Federal Drug and Firearm Charges Following FBI Investigation Into Methamphetamine and Short-Barreled Shotgun Case

HONOLULU — Federal authorities in Hawaii have announced the indictment of a 60-year-old Oahu man on multiple firearm and narcotics charges involving methamphetamine distribution allegations and possession of a short-barreled shotgun connected to alleged drug trafficking activity.

According to the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Hawaii, Craig Domingo of Mililani, Oahu, was indicted by a federal grand jury on June 4, 2026, on charges including two counts of being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

Federal officials stated Domingo was previously charged by criminal complaint in March 2025 and has remained in federal custody since his arrest.

According to court records, the investigation began after Domingo was arrested on state burglary charges in November 2023. During the investigation, a narcotics detection canine reportedly alerted investigators to the possible presence of illegal narcotics inside Domingo’s vehicle.

Authorities stated a subsequent search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered ten rounds of ammunition along with glass pipes containing methamphetamine residue.

Federal prosecutors stated Domingo previously had a conviction for Robbery in the First Degree, making it illegal for him to possess firearms or ammunition under federal law. Following additional investigation, federal authorities later alleged Domingo was also involved in possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine and possession of a short-barreled shotgun connected to alleged narcotics trafficking activity.

Short-barreled shotguns are heavily regulated under federal firearms laws due to their concealability and association with violent criminal activity. Federal authorities frequently pursue enhanced penalties in cases involving firearms allegedly connected to narcotics distribution operations due to the elevated risk of violence associated with drug trafficking networks.

Methamphetamine trafficking remains a major public safety concern throughout Hawaii and the broader United States due to overdose risks, organized criminal distribution activity, addiction, repeat violent offenses, and the increasing presence of firearms during narcotics investigations.

Federal prosecutors stated Domingo faces a potential sentence of up to life imprisonment if convicted, including mandatory minimum sentencing exposure totaling at least 20 years in federal prison. Authorities also stated the charges carry potential financial penalties reaching up to $20 million along with supervised release following imprisonment.

The FBI is investigating the case.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Barbara Eucker is prosecuting the case.

Federal authorities stated the investigation is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide Department of Justice initiative targeting violent crime, cartel-linked criminal organizations, transnational criminal enterprises, narcotics trafficking operations, and illegal immigration-related criminal activity.

The indictment contains allegations of criminal conduct. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.
