RAPID CITY, S.D. — The FBI Minneapolis Field Office is renewing its appeal for public assistance in the unsolved 2022 murder of six-year-old Logan Warrior Goings and has announced a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
Federal authorities stated the investigation remains an active priority as investigators continue seeking answers in the fatal shooting that claimed the life of the young child on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.
According to the FBI, Logan Warrior Goings was inside a residence in the Number 4 Housing Area in Oglala, near Pine Ridge, South Dakota, on the evening of May 5, 2022. At approximately 9 p.m., a vehicle reportedly approached the residence and one or more unidentified individuals fired approximately 14 rounds into the home.
Logan was struck by gunfire and died as a result of his injuries. Several other individuals, including children, were reportedly inside the residence at the time of the shooting.
Federal investigators continue working to identify those responsible and determine the circumstances surrounding the attack.
FBI Minneapolis Special Agent in Charge Christopher D. Dotson described the murder as a tragedy that continues to impact the community and emphasized that the case remains a high-priority investigation.
Violent crimes involving children remain among the most aggressively investigated cases handled by federal, tribal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. Investigators often continue pursuing leads for years after an incident occurs, particularly when witnesses, evidence, or new information emerge over time.
The Pine Ridge Indian Reservation falls within federal jurisdiction for many major crimes, resulting in close cooperation between the FBI, tribal authorities, federal prosecutors, and local law enforcement agencies during homicide investigations.
Federal authorities continue urging anyone with information, regardless of how minor it may seem, to come forward. Investigators frequently note that unresolved homicide cases can be solved years later through witness cooperation, newly developed evidence, technological advancements, or information from individuals previously unwilling to speak with law enforcement.
The FBI hopes the reward announcement will encourage anyone with knowledge of the shooting to provide information that may help bring justice to Logan’s family and accountability to those responsible.

Someone out there knows something and this kind of reward could very well be the thing that helps put whoever did this behind bars. Shooting that many bullets into a house is crazy. Shooting one bullet into a house with kids in it is crazy. I hope this reward money will cause someone to come forward.

I agree. Incidents like this are especially disturbing because multiple people, including children, were inside the residence when the shooting occurred. Firing that many rounds into an occupied home creates an obvious risk of tragedy far beyond the intended target.
Hopefully the reward encourages someone with information to come forward. In many cases, a single tip can make the difference in helping investigators identify those responsible and move a case forward.
