HONOLULU — Federal authorities in Hawaii have charged two brothers following the seizure of a large weapons cache that included machinegun-related firearms, suppressors, short-barreled rifles, and multiple weapons allegedly possessed in violation of federal firearms laws.
According to the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Hawaii, Skyler Supapo, 24, and Sebastian Supapo, 20, both of Kalihi, were arrested and charged after federal agents executed a search warrant at a residence connected to an investigation involving social media activity and suspicious parcel shipments.
Federal authorities stated the investigation ultimately resulted in the seizure of 44 firearms from the residence.
Among the weapons recovered were an Uzi submachine gun, a pistol equipped with a machinegun conversion device, at least two firearms with obliterated serial numbers, two short-barreled rifles, an AR-style pistol fitted with a suppressor, and an additional firearm suppressor.
According to federal prosecutors, the defendants are charged with possession of a machinegun, possession of firearms with obliterated serial numbers, and possession of unregistered firearms regulated under the National Firearms Act.
Federal authorities continue warning that machinegun conversion devices, often referred to as switches or auto sears, remain one of the fastest-growing threats encountered by law enforcement agencies nationwide. These devices can convert certain semi-automatic firearms into fully automatic weapons capable of firing multiple rounds with a single trigger pull.
Investigators have increasingly encountered machinegun conversion devices during gang investigations, narcotics trafficking cases, violent crime investigations, organized criminal activity, and social media-driven firearms trafficking operations.
Federal authorities also continue expressing concern regarding firearms with obliterated serial numbers, commonly referred to as ghosted or defaced weapons, because they significantly hinder law enforcement tracing efforts and criminal investigations.
Short-barreled rifles and suppressors are heavily regulated under the National Firearms Act due to their unique characteristics and the federal registration requirements associated with their possession and transfer.
The investigation reportedly began after federal agents identified suspicious activity involving online social media accounts and parcel shipments. Investigators subsequently developed evidence supporting the execution of a federal search warrant at the Kalihi residence.
The case highlights growing concerns among federal authorities regarding the use of online platforms, parcel delivery systems, and social media networks to facilitate illegal firearms acquisition, trafficking activity, and the distribution of regulated firearm components.
The FBI and the United States Postal Service Office of Inspector General are leading the investigation with assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the United States Postal Inspection Service, and the Honolulu Police Department.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Barbara Eucker and Michael Albanese are prosecuting the case.
Federal authorities stated the investigation is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide Department of Justice initiative focused on violent crime reduction, organized criminal enterprises, transnational criminal organizations, firearms trafficking investigations, and major public safety enforcement efforts.
If convicted, the defendants face penalties of up to five years in federal prison for possession of firearms with obliterated serial numbers and up to ten years in federal prison for the remaining charged offenses, along with substantial financial penalties.
The criminal complaint contains allegations of criminal conduct. The defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.

I’m thinking what anyone else who might read this article might think: “What in the world were these two young guys doing with all of this weaponry?” Maybe it was all about buying and selling guns. In any case, I’m glad these two have been caught and all of these weapons are now off of the street. All the illegal aspects of this case will be considered in the courts. I hope they get a fair trial and the appropriate sentence if found guilty.
Thank you for this article.
