GAINESVILLE, Fla. — A North Florida man has been indicted by a federal grand jury on multiple child exploitation charges stemming from allegations that span nearly a decade, according to federal prosecutors.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida announced Tuesday that Joseph Lee Parker, 37, of Old Town, Florida, has been charged with four counts of attempted enticement of a minor, three counts of attempted production of child sexual abuse material, and three counts of attempted receipt of child sexual abuse material.
Federal authorities announced the indictment after Parker appeared in U.S. District Court in Gainesville for his arraignment before U.S. Magistrate Judge Midori A. Lowry.
According to court records, Parker’s jury trial is scheduled to begin on July 22, 2026, before Chief U.S. District Judge Allen C. Winsor in Gainesville.
The indictment alleges Parker attempted to persuade or entice minors to engage in unlawful sexual activity and sought to produce and receive child sexual abuse material through online communications and electronic means. Federal prosecutors have not publicly released additional details regarding the alleged victims or the specific conduct underlying each charge.
If convicted, Parker faces substantial mandatory federal prison sentences.
The attempted enticement of a minor charges each carry a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in federal prison and a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.
The attempted production of child sexual abuse material charges each carry a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in federal prison and a maximum sentence of 30 years.
The attempted receipt of child sexual abuse material charges each carry a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in federal prison and a maximum sentence of 20 years.
Federal authorities emphasized that sentencing on multiple counts is determined by the court following any conviction and is subject to federal sentencing laws and judicial discretion.
The investigation was conducted through a coordinated effort involving the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, the Dixie County Sheriff’s Office, and the Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric W. Welch is prosecuting the case on behalf of the federal government.
The prosecution is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide Department of Justice initiative launched in 2006 to identify, investigate, and prosecute individuals accused of exploiting children through the internet and other electronic communications. The program combines federal, state, and local law enforcement resources to combat child exploitation offenses while working to identify and protect victims.
An indictment is a formal charging document returned by a federal grand jury after determining there is probable cause to proceed with prosecution. It is not evidence of guilt. Parker is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

Thank heavens once again for Project Safe Childhood. I am also thankful for the different offices that worked together on this case. If federal prosecutors allegations are correct that this type of activity spans nearly a decade, and this man is found guilty of any of the charges, I hope he gets the proper stay in a federal prison. If the allegations are true, this man needs to be off of the streets for quite some time. Accountability for this activity is essential as you have noted many times.
I hope that those he has harmed get the proper help they need to continue on to have a decent life. I also hope that he pleads to God for mercy for the things he has done. Only there will he find complete forgiveness. That is between him and his maker. His record must follow him for the rest of his life.
You’re very welcome, Chris.
One thing I hope never changes is that we continue treating crimes against children with the seriousness they deserve. Regardless of where someone stands on almost any other issue, protecting children should always be common ground.
Accountability is certainly an important part of the justice process, but I also hope every victim receives the support they need to move forward and rebuild their lives.
Thank you again for reading every chance you get and for sharing your thoughts, Chris. It’s always greatly appreciated. I hope you have a great day ahead. 😎
You’re welcome, John, and thank you for this response. I could not agree with you more on the seriousness of crimes against children. I hope with you that how the courts are now seeing these crimes continues. My son is thinking about buying his first house and, of course, we/he are/is doing some research on lots of different things. I checked the sexual assault records in a few areas he’s looking and sex offenders are everywhere. Most are lower level offenders because so many of the serious offenders are in federal prison. Still, they are everywhere. I’m grateful for resources like the sexual assault registry and that many of these people are being checked on occasionally.
Thanks again for this good coverage and I hope you have a great evening!😊
