Elk Grove Man Arrested After Allegedly Threatening Fourth of July Attack on Federal Infrastructure

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Federal authorities have arrested a 19-year-old Elk Grove man accused of making online threats to use fireworks to damage electrical generators supplying federal buildings in Sacramento during the Fourth of July holiday.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of California, Trevon McDaniel, also known online as “The_wild_wolfspider,” was arrested on July 1, 2026, and charged by criminal complaint with making threats concerning an attempt to damage or destroy buildings or property by means of fire or explosives.

Federal investigators allege McDaniel came to the attention of law enforcement during a broader investigation into an alleged plot targeting federal property and government officials. That investigation also examined an alleged plan involving an attack during a June 14, 2026, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) event held on the South Lawn of the White House, along with additional coordinated attacks.

According to court documents, investigators determined that McDaniel had communicated directly through TikTok with Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez, whom authorities describe as one of the principal conspirators in the White House-related investigation. After Alvarez was arrested in Nebraska, federal agents examined data recovered from his cellphone and reportedly discovered TikTok messages exchanged between Alvarez and the account “the_wild_wolfspider” between April 17 and June 7, 2026.

The FBI subsequently identified the account as belonging to McDaniel.

Investigators also allege McDaniel posted a TikTok video in which he appeared wearing a superhero-style mask and costume while discussing using fireworks against generators that supply electricity to federal buildings in Sacramento. Authorities contend the statements constituted threats involving the use of fire or explosives against federal property.

Federal agents later executed a search warrant at McDaniel’s residence, where investigators seized a costume matching the one allegedly worn in the TikTok videos, his cellphone, two miniature batons, and a baton holster.

McDaniel made his initial appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeremy D. Peterson, who ordered that he remain in federal custody pending further proceedings.

The investigation is being conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) with assistance from the Sacramento Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Elliot Wong and Kimberly Sokolich.

If convicted, McDaniel faces a maximum statutory penalty of 10 years in federal prison. Federal sentencing is determined by the court after considering applicable federal statutes and the advisory U.S. Sentencing Guidelines.

Because the case remains pending, the criminal complaint contains allegations only. McDaniel is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
