CONCORD, N.H. — A Concord man has been sentenced to more than three years in federal prison for participating in a methamphetamine-distribution conspiracy investigated by the FBI Major Offender Task Force and the New Hampshire State Police.
Zachary Albert, 44, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Steven McAuliffe to 37 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
Albert pleaded guilty in July 2025 to one count of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance, specifically methamphetamine.
“The defendant conspired with others to distribute dangerous drugs in our state,” U.S. Attorney for the District of New Hampshire Erin Creegan said. “Today’s sentence reflects the serious threat posed by those who deal in dangerous drugs like methamphetamine. Our office will continue to pursue individuals and organizations who profit from drug trafficking in our communities.”
According to court documents and statements presented in court, the investigation began in the fall of 2022 when the FBI Major Offender Task Force and the New Hampshire State Police began examining a methamphetamine-distribution conspiracy operating within New Hampshire.
Investigators intercepted telephone calls and text messages that revealed Albert’s role as a methamphetamine distributor. The communications showed that he obtained methamphetamine from one of his co-conspirators and then sold the drug to other individuals.
On March 16, 2023, Albert arranged to purchase methamphetamine that he intended to sell to two customers.
Law-enforcement officers subsequently stopped and searched Albert’s vehicle. During that search, investigators recovered 26.9 grams of methamphetamine and 9.4 grams of fentanyl.
Albert’s federal conviction was for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. The fentanyl recovered from the vehicle formed part of the evidence described in the court record, but the official release does not state that Albert was convicted of a separate fentanyl offense.
“Zachary Albert profited from selling methamphetamine, a highly addictive and dangerous drug that’s plagued communities here in New Hampshire,” said Ted E. Docks, special agent in charge of the FBI Boston Division. “Putting him out of business and behind bars can’t make up for the damage he and his drugs have done, but it does make our communities safer.”
Albert’s 37-month prison term will be followed by three years of supervised release. Supervised release is a separate period of federal oversight that begins after a defendant completes the custodial portion of a sentence.
The FBI Major Offender Task Force and New Hampshire State Police led the investigation as law-enforcement partners.
The Concord Police Department, Franklin Police Department, and New Hampton Police Department provided additional assistance during the investigation.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew T. Hunter and former Assistant U.S. Attorney Heather Cherniske prosecuted the case for the District of New Hampshire.
The prosecution was conducted as part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide Department of Justice initiative that coordinates federal resources against cartels, transnational criminal organizations, violent offenders, and other identified public-safety threats.
Operation Take Back America incorporates resources and enforcement efforts associated with the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces and Project Safe Neighborhoods.
The Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces coordinate multi-agency investigations targeting organized drug-trafficking and criminal networks. Project Safe Neighborhoods brings federal, state, local, and community resources together as part of broader efforts to address violent crime.
