GAINESVILLE MAN SENTENCED TO 14 YEARS AND 10 MONTHS FOR THREE ROBBERIES AND FIREARM OFFENSE

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Gainesville man has been sentenced to 14 years and 10 months in federal prison for committing three robberies in Jacksonville and Ocala, including two jewelry-store robberies in which he brandished a semiautomatic pistol at employees.

Michael Deon Woulard, 50, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Marcia Morales Howard for robbery and brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a violent crime.

Woulard pleaded guilty on March 16, 2026. His conviction and sentence are established court outcomes.

According to court documents and proceedings, Woulard committed the first robbery on October 10, 2023, at a Value Pawn shop in Jacksonville. He stole merchandise valued at approximately $45,945.

On November 25, 2023, Woulard robbed a Kay Jewelers store in Jacksonville. During the robbery, he brandished a semiautomatic pistol at employees and stole jewelry valued at approximately $352,623.66.

Woulard committed another armed robbery on February 20, 2024, at a Kay Jewelers store in Ocala. He again brandished a semiautomatic pistol at employees before stealing jewelry valued at approximately $364,752.56.

The merchandise and jewelry taken during the three robberies had a combined reported value of approximately $763,321.22.

Law enforcement arrested Woulard on February 21, 2024, one day after the Ocala robbery. At the time of his arrest, he possessed numerous stolen items connected to the third robbery.

During a voluntary interview with investigators from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and the Ocala Police Department, Woulard admitted that he committed the two jewelry-store robberies.

The use of a firearm during the Jacksonville and Ocala jewelry-store robberies elevated the danger faced by employees and exposed Woulard to a separate federal firearm penalty tied to the underlying violent offense.

Judge Howard ordered Woulard to pay $442,582.59 in restitution to the victims.

U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe announced the sentence.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, Ocala Police Department, and Alachua County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case.

Assistant U.S. Attorney David B. Mesrobian prosecuted the case.

The sentence holds Woulard accountable for a robbery operation that targeted three businesses across two cities, placed jewelry-store employees under threat of an armed assailant, and resulted in the theft of more than three-quarters of a million dollars in reported property value. In addition to serving 14 years and 10 months in federal prison, Woulard remains responsible for the restitution ordered by the court.
