FBI PHILADELPHIA TO HOST “TRAIN LIKE AN AGENT” RECRUITMENT EVENT FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS

PHILADELPHIA — FBI Philadelphia is inviting college students and recent graduates to experience part of the physical preparation required of prospective FBI special agents during a “Train Like an Agent” recruitment event scheduled for October 17 in Camden, New Jersey.

The three-hour event will begin at 8 a.m. and give accepted participants an opportunity to warm up and complete the FBI physical fitness test alongside current special agents. Attendees will also be able to speak directly with agents about their career paths, experiences inside the bureau and the process involved in applying for a special agent position.

The event is designed to give prospective applicants a closer look at one of the demanding components of the FBI hiring process before they formally enter it. Physical readiness is only one part of becoming a special agent, but it is a requirement candidates must be prepared to meet as they advance through the selection process.

FBI Philadelphia said the event is open to students currently enrolled at a college or university as well as individuals who graduated from a college or university within the past three years. Individuals who have already applied for a special agent position and are currently progressing through the hiring process are not eligible to participate.

Accepted participants will receive the specific Camden event location after confirmation from FBI Philadelphia. Those attending are expected to bring water, a photo ID and a signed waiver associated with the registration process.

The physical fitness component gives prospective candidates an opportunity to measure themselves against the standards expected of special agent applicants while receiving firsthand exposure to the type of preparation required before entering the formal selection system. The event is also intended to give participants a more realistic understanding of the profession beyond what can be learned through a job description or recruiting presentation.

The FBI’s selection process extends beyond physical fitness. Applicants must be able to pass a background check and receive the security clearance required for FBI employment.

Recruitment events such as “Train Like an Agent” also give students and recent graduates direct access to current special agents who can explain what the occupation requires in practice. For individuals considering a future application, that interaction can help clarify the difference between the public image of FBI work and the daily responsibilities, preparation and standards associated with the position.

The Camden event is scheduled to run from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 17. Registration is required, and submission of the registration form does not itself guarantee participation. FBI Philadelphia will contact individuals who are accepted and provide additional location information.

The event provides prospective applicants with an opportunity to test their physical readiness before committing to the formal special agent application process while gaining direct exposure to agents already performing the job.
