SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS — The Federal Bureau of Investigation has added a 29-year-old man accused of orchestrating a multimillion-dollar investment fraud scheme to its newly established Most Wanted Fraudsters list. Federal authorities allege that Imer Gomez obtained approximately $10 million from more than 400 investors through fraudulent investment operations between 2021 and 2024. The FBI is offering a reward of up to $150,000 for information leading to his arrest and conviction.
The announcement was made October 13, 2026, by Daniel Faith, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s San Antonio Field Office. Gomez faces a federal wire fraud charge following an indictment returned by a grand jury in the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas on July 16, 2025. The indictment was recently unsealed, and investigators believe Gomez may be avoiding prosecution in Mexico.
According to the FBI, Gomez operated through three businesses: K&G Investment Solutions LLC, Helios Venture Capital Group LLC, and Helios Venture Fund LLC. Prosecutors allege that he presented himself as a successful investment adviser and options trader, attracting individuals who believed their money would be managed through legitimate stock market investments.
Many of the alleged victims resided in the San Antonio area. Investigators reported that Gomez solicited investments from more than 400 people over approximately three years, promising substantial returns and representing that investor funds would be maintained in personalized portfolios.
Rather than investing the money as represented, Gomez allegedly diverted investor funds toward personal expenditures, payments to earlier investors, family members, friends, business associates, and other business ventures. Federal authorities describe the arrangement as a Ponzi scheme, in which money obtained from newer participants is used to make payments to earlier investors instead of generating legitimate investment returns.
Such schemes can create the appearance of a successful investment operation when early participants receive payments they believe represent earnings. The apparent success can encourage additional investments, even when the operation lacks sufficient legitimate revenue to support the reported returns.
Investigators also allege that Gomez provided fabricated account statements showing substantial growth in investor balances. Those statements allegedly concealed the actual use of the money while reinforcing the impression that his investment strategies were profitable.
The federal allegations concern wire fraud, an offense under 18 U.S.C. § 1343 involving schemes to obtain money or property through materially fraudulent representations using interstate or foreign wire communications. Prosecutors must establish the applicable statutory elements, including the required fraudulent intent and use of qualifying communications.
The indictment identifies Gomez as the defendant in the criminal prosecution, but the allegations have not been established through a conviction. His inclusion on the FBI’s wanted list reflects the outstanding federal case and efforts to locate him.
According to the FBI’s wanted notice, Gomez is a citizen of both the United States and Mexico. Investigators believe he may be residing near Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, although the Bureau has not publicly established his precise location.
The FBI identifies Gomez under several names, including Imer Abraham Gomez, Abe Gomez, and Imer Tovar. Authorities list his date of birth as April 4, 1997, his birthplace as California, and his physical description as approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall and 200 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
The Bureau has released multiple photographs of Gomez to assist with public identification. The images accompany his federal wanted notice and provide visual references for individuals who may have encountered him under one of his reported names.
A federal arrest warrant was issued on July 16, 2025, following the wire fraud charge in the Western District of Texas. His believed presence in Mexico introduces an international dimension to efforts to locate and apprehend him, although the FBI’s announcement does not identify any specific extradition proceeding or confirmed arrest location.
The financial allegations involve substantial potential losses for individual investors. Fraudulent investment operations can affect retirement savings, business capital, household finances, and money accumulated over many years. Victims may discover that account balances shown in investment statements do not correspond to recoverable assets.
The amount allegedly obtained by Gomez represents the total funds described in the FBI’s investigation and should not automatically be interpreted as a final court-determined restitution amount. Any restitution, forfeiture, or financial recovery would depend on subsequent legal proceedings and the identification of available assets.
Gomez’s addition to the Most Wanted Fraudsters list follows the FBI’s creation of the program on June 4, 2026. The initiative was established to increase public awareness of fugitives accused of significant financial fraud and encourage information that could assist investigators in locating them.
The list operates separately from the FBI’s traditional Ten Most Wanted Fugitives program. Its focus is financial crime, including allegations involving major fraudulent schemes that have caused substantial losses to individuals, businesses, or government programs.
The reward is conditional and does not establish that payment will automatically be made for every tip submitted. Information must satisfy the requirements of the Bureau’s reward offer.
The investigation is being conducted by the FBI, with the criminal prosecution handled by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Texas.
Federal authorities are encouraging individuals who recognize Gomez or possess information about his whereabouts to contact the FBI. Tips may be submitted anonymously, and individuals are not required to confront or approach a wanted person.
Anyone with information concerning Imer Gomez is urged to contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) or reach out to a local FBI field office, the nearest American embassy, or a United States consulate.
Imer Gomez remains wanted on a federal wire fraud charge and is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. The FBI’s $150,000 reward remains an incentive for information that could help investigators locate him and bring the pending case before the federal court.
