FBI Newark Announces Federal Charges Against Fugitive Wanted in 2017 Double Homicide of New Jersey Mother and Child

NEWARK, N.J. — Federal authorities have announced new federal charges against Nazeer Hameed, a fugitive wanted in connection with the 2017 murders of a woman and her 6-year-old son in Burlington County, New Jersey, as investigators continue an international manhunt that now spans nearly a decade.

According to the FBI Newark Field Office, Hameed is now federally charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution in the District of New Jersey after authorities alleged he fled the United States for India following the killings.

The Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office and the Maple Shade Police Department previously charged Hameed with two counts of first-degree murder tied to the deaths of Sasikala Narra and her young son, Anish Narra, who were found murdered inside their Maple Shade apartment on March 23, 2017.

Federal investigators stated Hameed remains at large and is believed to currently be living in India.

The FBI Newark Field Office announced a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading directly to Hameed’s arrest and apprehension.

According to investigators, evidence developed during the homicide investigation indicated that Hameed had allegedly been stalking Hanumanth Narra, the husband of Sasikala Narra and father of Anish Narra, prior to the killings. Authorities stated the case quickly evolved into a targeted homicide investigation involving alleged surveillance behavior, escalating obsession, and violent intent.

Investigators allege Hameed murdered both victims inside the family residence before fleeing the country during the early stages of the investigation.

Authorities stated detectives identified Hameed as a person of interest shortly after the murders, but investigators believe he departed the United States and returned to India before law enforcement could take him into custody.

In addition to the murder charges, Burlington County prosecutors also charged Hameed with two counts of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.

Federal authorities warned that Hameed should be considered armed and dangerous.

The case remains one of the more significant unresolved fugitive homicide investigations connected to Burlington County in recent years and reflects the growing complexity of international fugitive recovery operations involving suspects who cross national borders before criminal proceedings can fully advance.

Federal investigators continue coordinating with domestic and international law enforcement partners as efforts remain ongoing to locate and apprehend Hameed.

Cross-border fugitive investigations frequently involve extradition procedures, international legal coordination, immigration records analysis, financial tracking, and cooperative intelligence-sharing agreements between multiple jurisdictions.
