DRUG TRAFFICKING ORGANIZATION LEADER SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS FOR MULTISTATE METHAMPHETAMINE CONSPIRACY

CONCORD, NH — August 11, 2026 — The leader of a drug trafficking organization responsible for distributing more than 10 kilograms of methamphetamine across New Hampshire and Massachusetts has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison.

Alexander Aguasvivas-Pena, 32, a citizen of the Dominican Republic who is unlawfully present in the United States, received the 180-month sentence from U.S. District Judge Joseph N. Laplante.

Aguasvivas-Pena pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute a controlled substance.

The federal inquiry began in late 2023 after law enforcement agencies identified a drug trafficking organization operating across New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

Investigators used cooperating witnesses and an undercover officer to conduct controlled narcotics purchases from several members of the organization. Those transactions allowed authorities to document the group’s distribution network and identify Aguasvivas-Pena as its leader.

Court records established that the organization distributed more than 10 kilograms, or more than 22 pounds, of methamphetamine along with other controlled substances.

The organization moved narcotics across state lines and supplied distributors operating in New Hampshire. Aguasvivas-Pena directed the organization’s trafficking activities and was held responsible for the substantial quantity of methamphetamine distributed through the conspiracy.

U.S. Attorney Erin Creegan said the sentence holds Aguasvivas-Pena accountable for leading an organization that moved large quantities of illegal narcotics into New Hampshire. Creegan said the Homeland Security Task Force will continue targeting trafficking operations that cross international and state borders.

FBI Boston Division Special Agent in Charge Ted E. Docks said Aguasvivas-Pena and other members of the organization placed substantial quantities of methamphetamine and other dangerous drugs into local communities. Docks said the sentence removed the organization’s leader from operation and placed him in federal custody.

The case was brought through New Hampshire’s Homeland Security Task Force, an interagency initiative focused on criminal cartels, foreign gangs, transnational criminal organizations, human smuggling operations, and trafficking networks operating inside and outside the United States.

The New Hampshire task force includes personnel from the FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, IRS Criminal Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, U.S. Marshals Service, and Diplomatic Security Service. Prosecutions generated through the task force are led by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Hampshire.

The FBI Major Offender Task Force led the Aguasvivas-Pena investigation with assistance from the Drug Enforcement Administration, New Hampshire State Police, Strafford County Sheriff’s Office, and Boston Police Department.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Yasir Sadat and former Assistant U.S. Attorney Heather Cherniske prosecuted the case.
