WESTBURY, N.Y. — Paylogix, LLC, a New York-based employee benefits administration technology company, has disclosed a data breach involving unauthorized access to its network and the copying of files containing sensitive personal information.
According to Paylogix’s official notice, the company experienced a network disruption involving certain computer systems and services. Paylogix said it moved to contain the disruption, restore affected systems, and investigate the scope of the incident. The investigation determined that unauthorized actors accessed certain systems and copied files from the company’s network between November 13 and November 18, 2025.
Paylogix said its review of the affected files was continuing when the notice was issued. Information potentially involved varies by individual and may include names, addresses, policy numbers, email addresses, and Social Security numbers.
The company also notified federal and local law enforcement and said it is cooperating with the investigation. Paylogix stated that it was reviewing its existing security policies and implementing additional cybersecurity measures following the incident.
The breach affects a company that operates within employee benefits administration, where systems can hold information connected to insurance coverage, employee records, payroll-linked benefits, and other sensitive administrative data.
Regulatory filings show that the incident affected a significant number of individuals.
The South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs lists 64,383 South Carolina residents as affected by the Paylogix breach, with the company reporting the incident to the state on August 17, 2026.
The California Attorney General’s data breach registry also records Paylogix, LLC, identifying the breach dates as November 13 and November 18, 2025, with the incident reported on August 14, 2026.
The available state filings confirm that the incident extends across multiple jurisdictions. Paylogix’s general breach notice does not provide a single nationwide total for affected individuals.
Paylogix said it is not aware of identity theft or fraud resulting from the incident. The company advised potentially affected individuals to monitor financial accounts and credit reports for suspicious activity and to review insurance explanations of benefits for unexpected activity.
The company also directed individuals toward fraud alerts and credit freezes as additional measures against unauthorized use of personal information.
The exposed information creates several potential risks depending on what data was present for each affected individual. Social Security numbers can support identity theft and fraudulent account creation, while policy and contact information can be used in targeted phishing, insurance fraud, impersonation, and other forms of social engineering.
The combination of employee-benefit information and identifying data can also provide attackers with enough context to construct highly convincing messages designed to appear connected to an employer, insurance provider, benefits administrator, or financial institution.
Paylogix’s confirmed disclosure remains limited to unauthorized network access, file copying between November 13 and November 18, 2025, disruption to certain systems, and the potential exposure of personal information.
The FBI’s 2025 Internet Crime Report also identified Akira as the most frequently reported ransomware variant to the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center during 2025.
Those government findings establish Akira’s broader threat profile, but they do not establish that Akira was responsible for the Paylogix breach.
The incident also demonstrates the risk created when third-party administrative platforms hold sensitive data for employees and insurance-related operations. A compromise at one provider can expose information belonging to individuals whose data originated with numerous employers, benefit programs, or associated organizations.
Paylogix said affected individuals can contact its dedicated assistance line and encouraged those concerned about misuse of their information to remain vigilant for identity theft, suspicious financial activity, and unexpected insurance-related activity.
The full scale of the breach may become clearer as additional state notifications emerge. Paylogix stated in its public notice that its review of the potentially affected files was ongoing at the time the notice was issued.
